Aurora Ave.’s most recent project,&nbsp;Live From Matter Music&nbsp;is an EP that captures the joy and intensity of the band’s live sound, featuring 3 songs recorded by the band while on tour in LA.Dollarbird is a group of four fellas that bonded over their enjoyment of fiddling with noisy devices and the like. A couple walks into the room, a historical barn near the dikes of the Skagit River. The room is bustling, filled with a quiet hum punctuated by glasses clinking and the occasional whoop of anticipation from the ever-growing crowd. The stage is backlit with a starry sky backdrop. Townes Van Zandt plays softly from the PA as the room fills and drinks are served. The couple sits down and strikes up a conversation with a soft-spoken man wearing a flannel shirt and a fedora, sipping a pint of IPA like he has someplace to be. The couple glances at each other as the man starts rambling about why guitars from the '30s sound so much better than those made today, they can't remember how they got to talking about this but are impressed with what seems like an uncommonly deep knowledge. He pauses long enough to glance up as several musicians move toward the stage, and his beer is gone. The background music fades out, and the announcement is made: “Please give a warm welcome to Benny Sidelinger!” He stands up, nods to the couple and turns toward the stage.Benny steps on stage and picks up an ancient banjo, its head worn from years of frailing, and the couple realizes they've been talking to the headliner himself. They'd heard about the show, but a few casually dropped references in their brief conversation with Benny has them curious, they both pull out their phones. A quick search reveals an interview on Dutch National TV before playing Rhythm and Blues in Groningen, performances with Grammy Award Winner Allison Russell, a banjo jam session on stage with Michael Franti, and festival appearances from Vancouver to Calgary to Newport. It reveals countless albums he's appeared on, Po' Girl, JT Nero, the Shiftless Rounders, the Blackberry bushes, the Pine hearts, the list goes on. He seems to have been everywhere, played with everyone.The lights dim, and the room fades. A band hovers on stage right, but on the stage it's just Benny now. The banjo begins to hum, then sing, then rip. With fingers moving impossibly fast as the music begins to vibrate and glow. Transitioning to another song he picks up a road worn guitar (the google search reveals that he built it himself). The slower, heartfelt ballad written for his first daughter is almost a relief. Subtly, the rest of the band adds layers to the sound one at a time. Benny's voice rings out, adding to the echoes of all the acts that have graced this same stage in the small Washington town. There is distance in that voice, and you can hear the miles and miles of road in the guitar, vibrating like smooth highways passing under weary tires.

Self-produced Indie-Rock artist and internet personality Carter Vail has quietly amassed 600k+ social media followers by releasing music that somehow combines elements of Lo-Fi, disco, and even Bossa nova without compromising an undeniable indie-rock feel that places him somewhere between Mac Demarco, Cake , and Phoenix. He does it all with a playful, feel-good aesthetic that doesn’t shy away from heavier themes of loss, love and growing up. Carter’s reputation for creative and hilarious short form video content has earned him partnerships with brands ranging from Starbucks to Dave’s Killer Bread and Tillamook cheese. The original jingles he’s made for those brands are probably the most unique application of a University of Miami music school degree you’ll find on the internet. He also does Ju Jitsu everyday, bench presses the combined weight of a typical indie band, and will run a marathon without training. His album, 100 cowboys, comes out via Assemble Sound in June 2024.

Magenta Wave is an alternative indie-rock band that started playing live in Bellingham, Washington during the spring of 2022.&nbsp;The group quickly made their way into established venues, playing shows at the Wild Buffalo, the Shakedown, and the Blue Room.Notorious for emotionally charged vocal melodies supplemented with evocative guitar solos, their sound constantly evolves as the musicians grow as both artists and human beings.&nbsp;In the fall of 2023 the band relocated to Seattle, where they share a house together. They took little time to settle, playing shows at the Sunset Tavern, Barboza, and the Tractor Tavern. The group was quick to capitalize upon their momentum with a strong debut headlining performance at the historic Central Saloon.&nbsp;The band entered the studio for the first time last fall. Two days spent at the Hallowed Halls in Portland last November resulted in the recording of four songs. ann annie&nbsp;is the stage name for Portland based composer&nbsp;Eli Goldberg. The project began as a way for Eli to explore the world of modular synths and ambient music. As the project grew and took form, he slowly introduced various acoustic instruments into his compositions – most notably in their recent album ‘the wind’. This new sound combines aspects of classical orchestras with string and horn instruments, old country guitar twang and that original electronic modulation to form something wholly unique. Their live show consists of a trio of piano, saxophone, cello and modular synth performing dreamy, sometimes improvisational, chamber music mixed with atmospheric synth soundscapes.

Niall Ó Murchú from Cork and Dublin, Ireland is a part of Ireland’s Gaelic linguistic minority and the global diaspora of Irish speakers. He has taught at Fairhaven College, Western Washington University since 2001, and plans to bring students to Galway and the Donegal Gaeltacht in July 2023.

Considered one of the most talented Irish musicians in America today, flautist, whistle player, singer, and Juno Award-winner Hanz Araki has been lauded by publications and audiences alike.&nbsp;&nbsp;Three decades of musical exploration into Irish, Scottish, Japanese, and American traditions has yielded his distinct style described by Fatea Magazine as “achingly beautiful.” As the sixth generation of his family to bear the title Araki Kodo, Hanz (short for Hanzaburo, his great-great grandfather’s name) spent his formative years mastering the Japanese end-blown bamboo flute.&nbsp;&nbsp;Discovering and relishing the melodic and mechanical similarities between shakuhachi and Irish whistle, Hanz applied his natural capacity and boundless curiosity to his Irish heritage.&nbsp;&nbsp;Taking advantage of the rich Irish music scene in Seattle, where he spent his youth, Hanz quickly became known for his exquisite instrumental work on both Irish whistle and flute and a haunting singing voice that was born to tell tales.

Art Gecko is an indie rock/pop band from Seattle. Drawing on influences such as Talking Heads and Dr. Dog, Art Gecko is known locally for their thoughtful, artsy tunes to dance and/or cry to featuring big harmonies and layered synths. Their forthcoming second EP, titled Occult, will be available to listen everywhere on August 9th, following the release of their single Bad Omen on July 19th.&nbsp;Dollarbird is an alternative indie rock group with a focus on dynamic, emotive songwriting and instrumental performance. The band consists of four members, all seasoned members of the Bellingham music scene through their other bands.

This is the first in a series of monthly (or however often it shakes out) klezmer nights that include a short tune-learning workshop, an open jam session for all ages and skill levels, and a performance by a rotating cast of featured hosts. Bring your voice, your instrument, your dancing shoes, or just your ears! Learning by ear is encouraged, but sheet music is also available in a variety of keys and clefs.We ask for a $10 - $20 suggested donation. No one is turned away for lack of funds.Doors at 6pm | Jam at 6:30 | Performance at 8:00Tate and Jimmy have been teacher and assistant together for workshops, jam sessions, and classes in Seattle through The Rhapsody Project. As recipients of a grant from the Washington Cultures program, they have spent much time together exploring Yiddish music and sometimes baking challah together. Join us at 6:30pm (doors at 6:00) on July 25th to jam with us and at 8pm to hear us perform what we've been working on throughout the last year! Tate plays violin in many different styles of music and often performs with The Rhapsody Songsters. He also studies biology at the UW. Jimmy plays trombone with many groups, including the klezmer brass band, Shpilkis, and Bellingham’s own Hot Damn Scandal.

His varied sounds have earned him a unique spot on the Washington Music scene, and he will be performing at several music festivals this summer with his band, Cascade Cody &amp; His Unpulled BootstrapsJeff Plankenhorn's songwriting, expressive vocals, and musicianship are front and center on his latest album,&nbsp;Alone At Sea, produced by Colin Linden (Bruce Cockburn, Keb Mo.)
