NYC based songwriter Zachary Cale returns with&nbsp;<a target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow" href="https://www.xopublicity.com/zachary-cale-2">Next Year’s Ghost</a>, out May 24th via <a target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow" href="https://orgmusic.com/blogs/news/zachary-cale-next-years-ghost">Org Music</a>. The eight-song album, the follow-up to 2022’s&nbsp;Skywriting, marks Cale’s first turn to piano-based songs and includes contributions from Shahzad Ismaily (Bob Dylan, Marc Ribot), Jeremy Gustin (Delicate Steve, Okkervil River), Uriah Theriault (Woodsy Pride), and others. During the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, Cale found a new routine: leaving an abandoned New York City and crossing the bridge to Redhook to play the piano in a friend’s art studio. Having little experience with the piano, Cale’s practice began as escape and meditation until, finally, songs began to take shape.&nbsp;Informed by the isolation and uncertainty of the pandemic,&nbsp;Next Year's Ghost&nbsp;possesses a tense stillness that recalls those lost, lonely days. It meditates on the strange elasticity of time, but at the edges a tense pulse beats, capturing what it felt like to have to live without urgency in a deeply urgent time.Ezra Feinberg’s third album <a target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow" href="https://soundcloud.com/tonalunion/sets/ezra-feinberg-soft-power/s-u2yuT7hv6QY">Soft Power</a> sees the composer-guitarist enlist an impressive array of fellow musicians including Mary Lattimore, David Moore (Bing &amp; Ruth), Jefre Cantu-Ledesma, Robbie Lee and share the life affirming lead single ‘Future Sand’. Defined by its abundance of melodies, repeating figures and ecstatic improvisations, Soft Power exudes an enlightened and transformative spirit to empower the listener. Feinberg, a practising psychoanalyst and former founding member of the San Francisco psychedelic collective Citay (Dead Oceans / Important Records) resides in the artistic enclave of upstate New York's Hudson River valley. Initial recordings emerged in the late summer of 2020, before added synthesis with collaborator John Thayer (Arp, Sunwatchers) during early 2021. Soft Power follows previous albums ‘Recumbent Speech’ (2020) and ‘Pentimento and Others’ (2018).
