The High Lonesome Sound Songwriter Round is a recurring event that was created to elevate the craft and community of songwriters in southwest Florida, connecting them not only with one another, but with a listening audience.
Claire Liparulo, known best as the front woman for national reggae/soul act, The Freecoasters is a versatile and accomplished SWFL-based artist and songwriter. She has traveled all over the US and has performed on iconic stages from NYC to LA. She has completed multiple national tours with her band, The Freecoasters, written and recorded 3 full length albums, and performed on stage with acclaimed acts such as The Slackers, The Aggrolites, Greg Lee of Hepcat.
As a songwriter, Claire employs a poetic style, painting vivid landscapes. As performer and front-person, she is an engaging storyteller with a fierce authenticity and contagious charisma.
Her intensely heartfelt debut solo record, The Cost, hit the ground running in April 2023 and can be purchased or streamed anywhere digital music is available. In September of last year, Claire released a dark soul cover of Donavon’s Season of the Witch, a collaboration with The Slackers’ Agent Jay under his project, The Carbon Brothers, which received airtime on BBC Radio.
Claire created High Lonesome Round in September of 2022 in hopes of facilitating community amongst songwriters in the southwest Florida with one another as well as with the broader songwriter community nationally. Monallo is an up and coming, environmental scientist turned award-winning-artist in the coastal folk/americana scene. Inspired by real-life experiences and the world that surrounds us all, monallo's warm sound, vivid imagery and organic style produces songs that are both true to the heart and easy to listen to. Some are
lighthearted, some are heartfelt, but they each set a relaxing, down-to-earth tone that we can all enjoy. In 2024, monallo received the TRMA (trop rock music
association) Horizon Award, given to an up and coming artist showing the most promise in songwriting and performance nationwide
Devin Damato has been perfecting his craft for over 25 years. He graduated from the prestigious Berklee College of Music in Boston, where he attended songwriting classes taught by the likes of Pat Pattison (author: Writing Better Lyrics), Scarlet Keys (Warner Chappell staff songwriter), Anna Nalick (songwriter), Paul Simon (Simon & Garfunkel), John Oates (Hall & Oates), and John Mayer. He has also produced and written songs for signed major label artists in Boston, New York, Nashville, and Los Angeles. Devin has also opened for and performed with artists such as Aloe Blacc, Betty Who, Brandi Carlile, and Charlie Puth. Devin is not only considered an accomplished songwriter, but also a producer, music director, and skilled multi-instrumentalist of all genres. Devin is a two-time Top 10 Finalist in the International Acoustic Music Awards (IAMA) songwriting competition for Best Male Vocal and Folk/Americana/Roots.
Joe Schaefer is an all-original upright bassist who is thankful for the opportunity to make music! Be it folk, jazz, or something in between, he is always happy for the ability to perform.
