<h2>ArtWalk and Artist Reception: Saturday, December 7, 4-7pm</h2>This exhibition will showcase recent work and feature a variety of illustrations, paintings, mixed media drawings, and paper cut art. It will include two new series of narrative pieces exploring the themes and characters from my pieces the Pond-dweller or Contra-corriente and Viaje de Cempasúchil and a new body of work featuring fantastical portraits of flora &amp; fauna.&nbsp;Pamela Acosta is a Mexican painter, illustrator, and occasional animator from the borderlands along the Rio Grande Valley, currently living and working in Northampton, Massachusetts. She received her BFA from the University of Texas at Rio Grande Valley in 2013 and pursued studies in traditional animation at the School of Visual Arts throughout 2014 and 2015. She often finds inspiration in literature and nature. She draws on dreams of flourishing inner lives and creates visual narratives about a myriad of beings, quests and the symbiotic relationships formed between beings and their environments, exploring how we construct, transform and are transmuted by our surroundings. Her work is characterized by figurative narratives explored through visual poetry and magical realism.

Pioneer Valley Jazz Shares presents Arun Ramamurthy Trio.Arun Ramamurthy Trio (ART) brings together South Indian classical Carnatic music and contemporary Arun Ramamurthy (violin), Damon Banks (electric bass), Sameer Gupta (drums)American jazz. Boundaries are blurred in this organic and seamless integration of styles as the group expands on traditional forms in explosive, improvisational flights of fancy. The trio freely explores the kindred spirit of raga music and jazz, resulting in a deeply invigorating and spiritual experience. ART's sound is driven by the dynamic rhythm section of drummer Sameer Gupta &amp; and electric bassist Damon Banks. Arun’s original work tells stories of migration and cultural connection. His commissioned work from CMA's New Jazz Works, "New Moon Suite" shines a light on the teachings and wisdom of our ancestors, and the lessons we take on our own personal journeys. ART will release their 2nd studio recording, “New Moon” under Greenleaf Music in September 2024.

If you’re your own role model, come as you are.Indë was born and raised on Norwottuck land (Northampton) to Afro-Caribbean American heritage, and their recent work redresses the absence of queer BIPoC in this white-dominated area who might have served as role models in their youth. <h2>ArtWalk and Artist Reception: Saturday November 2, 4-7pm</h2>Easthampton artist Amanda Petrovato will present artworks made from local repurposed materials, primarily paper and cardboard. This exhibition will include an installation element with an invitation to the public to participate in the piece's transformation and reflect on their relationship with change, transition, creation, destruction and impermanence.Amanda Petrovato's work has been included in several local group shows. Her solo exhibit "Liminal Beings" demonstrated her experimentation with reclaimed materials. Her recent paper work stems from further explorations with low and no cost raw materials. She believes creative expression must be available and accessible to all.

<h1>Eli Helman – Maximalist Ink Drawings</h1>November 2, 2024 - November 30, 2024 <h3>ArtWalk and Artist Reception: Saturday Nov. 2nd, 4-7pm </h3><h4>About the Artist:</h4>Self-taught artist Eli Helman grew up in Framingham, Massachusetts before attending college at American University in Washington, DC. Shortly thereafter, he moved to Tucson, Arizona where, motivated by blank walls in his apartment and a fascination with the landscapes and wildlife of the American West, he began experimenting with pencil sketching.Upon returning to New England a few years later, he discovered Micron pens. Since then he has spent thousands of hours meticulously crafting highly detailed ink drawings. Emphasizing intricately drawn lines and patterns, he explores eclectic subjects through a blend of whimsical and thought provoking imagery. Inspired by music, humor, travel, nature, science and history, he hopes viewers will find something new — or at least have a good chuckle — every time they gaze upon his work.&nbsp;All original works are drawn by hand with Micron pens on paper.&nbsp; Some pieces take over 200 hours to complete.&nbsp;Since 2010 he has been a full-time artist traveling around the country showing his work at art festivals.&nbsp; He lives in Western Massachusetts.

Panel Conversation: In each other we trust - Oct 28 from 6:30-7pm in the BlueRoomIn each other we trust continues with a panel conversation on Monday, October 28 between local artists that explores relationships, organizing, and sustainability in the arts. The panel features artist Jeff Kasper, whose solo exhibition is on display throughout the month of October in the ECA Gallery, Emma Chubb and Matthew Cummings, the artists and curators behind the new gallery and project space Out Of Office, and Lisa Miranda, a musician and board member of The Heavy Culture Co-op (THCC, pronounced “thick”). Panelists across artistic disciplines who are creating new ways of collaborating and presenting the work of artists in Easthampton will share more about their projects and organizing ethos, and together weave possibilities for richly creative and well-supported futures.&nbsp;Jeff Kasper is an artist, writer, and educator working in public art, design, cultural accessibility, and social engagement. He creates text-based projects, social spaces, publications, games, digital media, exhibitions, community workshops, and participatory learning projects, often in partnership with organizations. His artworks center dialogical, reflective, and instructional texts, as well as pedagogical objects that prompt meditation, relationship building, and serious play. <a target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow" href="https://jeffkasper.co">https://jeffkasper.co</a>&nbsp; Out Of Office (OOO) is a space for contemporary art in downtown Easthampton. On October 26, 2024, acclaimed western mass Grateful Dead tribute band <a target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow" href="https://www.mindleftbodyband.com/">Mind Left Body</a> will play their third of three anniversary-themed fundraising shows at CitySpace aimed at celebrating the historical October 1974 performances by the Grateful Dead. The celebration and fundraising event will take place in CitySpace’s Blue Room at Old Town Hall in Easthampton on October 26, 2024 in support of the <a target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow" href="https://www.cityspaceeasthampton.org/transformation/">restoration of Old Town Hall</a>.Tickets are $25 /Advanced, General Admission $30 / DoorWe invite the community to join together in support of CitySpace’s restoration of Old Town Hall and to experience music played by a highly praised local band from what is often considered the pinnacle year of the cultural phenomenon that was the Grateful Dead. In 2022, the band marked the 50th anniversary of the Grateful Dead’s famous “Sunshine Daydream” show in Veneta, OR. In 2023, they did the same for 1973’s “Summer Jam Festival” in Watkins Glen, NY. This year they will celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Grateful Dead’s October 16-20 1974 run at Winterland in San Francisco, CA, which at the time were touted as the band’s final concerts and were documented in the Grateful Dead Movie concert film. In celebration of these landmark finale shows, Mind Left Body will perform selections that highlight the best of what the Grateful Dead had to offer at one of the peaks in the band’s long career.&nbsp;Mind Left Body plays this special concert in support of CitySpace and the nonprofits mission to restore the second-floor in Old Town Hall into an accessible performing arts and community space. “Within the Glow” is Human Agenda Theater’s response to what it means to come together these days using methods of devised theater.The play was inspired in large part by the realization of how important it was for the company members to socialize in the years emerging from the necessary but difficult COVID19 lockdowns. They found that the lack of access to social events made them pay attention to the intricacies of human interaction in social settings, as well as how important it was to their specific communities. They also were focused on the ways in which our modern world wants to strip us of the things that make us most human, to separate us from each other and our ability to connect and create community: everything from social media to A.I. and the destruction of gathering places. They wanted to explore people’s natural instinct to gather and both interrogate and celebrate how we do so.&nbsp;Human Agenda Theater celebrates the collaborative process of creating and sharing stories of the human experience through ground-breaking, interactive and weird forms of ensemble-based devised theater. They are committed to uplifting and integrating practices of pay equity/profit-sharing, radical accessibility and culture-building within their company and surrounding communities. The company is a collaborative group of performers, which include Stephanie Reyes, Allison Reding, Kaia Jackson, Collette Paro, Alex Paquin, Kevin Van Develde, and Kelly Tierney, most of which are founding members of the group. Each individual brings unique perspectives and identities to the collaborative process. The company’s primary work is devised theater, a collaborative process of creating original shows.&nbsp;This project is part of the<a target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow" href="https://www.cityspaceeasthampton.org/pif/"> Pay It Forward</a> Series.

The play braids together excerpts from the transcripts of the South Africa genocide case against Israel, poetry and the story of three ceasefire activists involved in a small town’s fight to end the assault on Palestinian life. The poets who imbue the play with their humanity include: Refaat Alareer, Dan Almagor, Mahmoud Darwish, Solmaz Sharif, Lisa Sujair Majaj and JuPong Lin.“Phoenix in the Holy Land” was birthed in the crucible of the current nakba in Palestine, the incident that spurred the PeaceBirds project. Cut Loose: Battleground

Annie and the Fur Trappers are a Boston-based traditional jazz and blues band. Originally founded in St. Louis, Missouri, in 2016, the band is made up of clarinet, trumpet, trombone, bass, banjo, guitar, washboard, and violin. Annie and the Fur Trappers is dedicated to performing and preserving the music of the 1920s and 30s. They've performed at a variety of music festivals including the Big Muddy Blues Festival, The Whitaker Jazz Festival, Cherokee Street Jazz Fest, HONK!TX, Musikfest, The Cherokee Street Jazz Crawl, and The Rosebud Cafe Music Festival, to name a few, and they are always a hit at parties, swing dances, and weddings! They play all over New England and travel around the United States frequently.

"I'll stop seeking to find, start saying what's on my mind," sings Klug on Out Of Line, the lead single from their 2023 label-debut album, Don't You Dare Make Me Jaded.The album takes on the world with visceral and tactile images: it finds them falling in love with reckless abandon, haunted by the ghost of an old lover, waiting for fairies in the backyard of their childhood home. Olive's work is optimistic, but not naive. Klug emerged into the scene in fraught times: for the folk landscape, for the country, for themself. By combining Golden Age folk references and contemporary narratives with ease, Olive Klug is a singular voice for the future of folk: honest, compelling, often unsure, but willing to try anyway.2024 finds Olive in Nashville, attempting to stabilize after a 3-year whirlwind of viral niche internet-fame, nonstop touring, and music industry naïveté. Silvie's Okay is the ache-y country project of Vince Thompson. Raised on a cattle ranch in the High Desert before moving to Boston and eventually Western Massachusetts, Silvie’s Okay is a return to his roots of blasting pop country through the AM radio of a tractor. Thompson manages to highlight his personal experiences in queer identity, grief, love and lust with hard-hitting lyricism and enticing hooks, inviting a wider audience to dive in and find their own reflections in his work. It is the framework for this year’s ECA Gallery Invitational and also of a panel conversation that constellates those ideas with local arts leaders. The ECA Gallery Invitational is an annual opportunity to highlight local artists addressing the spirit of the moment.Jeff Kasper’s work asks driving questions around how we relate to one another, what responsibilities we have in those relationships, and how they're formed and codified. For his solo exhibition from October 5 - 28 for the ECA Gallery Invitational, Kasper presents a selection of new flags from his prototypes for white flags series, some smaller text-based scores, and projected video. Kasper’s immersive installation underscores relationships of mutuality as an aspiration and necessity. As the plague and rising religious conservatism threaten their way of life, they are all forced to reconsider their futures on the stage. As is typical of “hudkeli” performances, audiences will be invited to participate at moments in the piece, with call-and-response singing, rhythm-making, and responding to the performer’s questions. Written by Sahalesh, directed by Rose Schwietz, and performed by Suraj Malla.Suraj Malla an actor, director, Acting teacher. He completed his acting training from Actor's Studio Nepal and has been performing with them since 2012. He is a three-time participant in the BRM Festival with NSD Delhi. He was invited as a Nepali representative for International Prospero Workshop in Denmark, focusing on devised theatre for youth and children. Recently, he participated in an online theatre intensive with SITI Company. Having taught in schools for several years, he has produced a variety of student shows. He has also worked as a professional theatre trainer at various acting institutions around Nepal. As is typical of “hudkeli” performances, audiences will be invited to participate at moments in the piece, with call-and-response singing, rhythm-making, and responding to the performer’s questions. Written by Sahalesh, directed by Rose Schwietz and performed by Suraj Malla.Suraj Malla an actor, director, Acting teacher. He completed his acting training from Actor's Studio Nepal and has been performing with them since 2012. He is a three-time participant in the BRM Festival with NSD Delhi. He was invited as a Nepali representative for International Prospero Workshop in Denmark, focusing on devised theatre for youth and children. Recently, he participated in an online theatre intensive with SITI Company. Having taught in schools for several years, he has produced a variety of student shows. He has also worked as a professional theatre trainer at various acting institutions around Nepal. The installation features a diverse body of work hung from above, inviting viewers to navigate an interconnected landscape, where individual pieces are seen in relation to others, and experienced through the atmosphere they create as a whole.Rivkah Gevinson (b. 1990, Chicago) is an American-Norwegian artist and musician based in Greenfield, Massachusetts. She studied art at Skidmore College and Turps Art School, and has completed residencies at the Edward Albee Foundation and Atelier Austmarka. Her work has been exhibited in the US, Germany, Norway and the UK.

With compassion, humor, and honesty she&nbsp;makes a case for Palestinian and Arab points of view in ways that truly allow them to be heard. Edward Said, was a professor at Columbia University and, until his death in 2003, a worldwide spokesman for Palestine and the Middle East. &nbsp;Palestine&nbsp;was originally produced in 2010 by Twilight Theatre Company in association with New York Theatre Workshop. The eight-week Off-Broadway run at the Fourth Street Theater was sold-out. <h2>Art Walk and Artist Reception: Saturday, July 6 4-7pm</h2>"A Space in Between" is a solo show of my recent work in which I explore the unique immigrant experience of finding oneself standing at the threshold of two worlds. Through my work, I seek to delve into the delicate equilibrium of class, gender, and ethnicity within the context of the diasporic realm.Cima Khademi is a visual artist with an MFA in Studio Arts from UMass Amherst and a BFA from University of Alabama in Birmingham. Khademi’s current work focuses on the unique experience of “identity” as an immigrant. The particular state where identity and homeland are called into question and we find ourselves simultaneously standing on the threshold of two worlds. Her experience of identity comes from two countries that are radically different and are often seen as enemies. Iran and the U.S. Her creative practice is an exploration of balance in a diasporic space regarding class, gender, and ethnicity through materials and metaphors.

East Coast guitarist Rich Goldstein is known for his grooving hard bop style with a moderntinge. He has appeared with a wide range of musicians including, Andy Laverne, Charles Flores,Steve Davis, and Houston Person and many others at jazz venues including Birdland , the Berklee Performance Center, The Jazz Gallery, and Smalls. He has appeared at festivals such as The Atlanta jazz Fest, The Cancun Jazz Fest, and The Festival of Arts and Ideas. He has recorded as a sideman with Charles Flores, Rob Zappulla, Larry Derdeyn (Lingo), Ed Fast and Conga Bop, and Jim Argiro, as well as a numberof other studio dates. As a leader Rich recorded and produced“Comin’ from Montgomery”, atribute to the Montgomery brothers (2008), and “Effervescent.” Presently he isworking to finish a co-produced project with Jesse Hameen II (drums), Kris Jensen (Sax), andBrian Charette (organ). Rich is in demand as an educator and holds positions as professor of jazzguitar at the University of Hartford’s Hartt School of Music ( Jackie McLean Institute), Centraland Southern Connecticut State Universities, has been involved with various jazz campsincluding the “Litchfield Jazz Camp”, and performs a number of lectures and master classesyearly. A member of the team for 6 years, I began to document my friends and teammates during this increasingly uncertain time after a dislocated leg caused me to retire permanently from playing.As they returned to the field for their 20th season amid increasingly violent anti-LGBTQ+ rhetoric sweeping across the country, I found the Rebellion as stalwart, passionate and determined as ever. With a 6x7 camera and a tripod (my hands being occupied by crutches) I began to work fervently – hoping to capture even a portion of the energy, community, and of course sexuality, that defines the team and its members.“It’s intoxicating isn’t it?” My teammate Ben said to me at a bar after a game, “Being out in public.” This was a place where they were their true selves, on and off the pitch.Not just a team but a chosen family – ready to bleed for one another if that’s what it takes.ARTIST STATEMENTFew things in the world, and fewer things still in America, exist without the ensnarement of capital. Club rugby is one of them. Three times a week, the Rebellion gathers to slam into each other and their opponents—with only cold beer, cheap pizza and bruises waiting on the other side. Games are played underneath overpasses and alongside highway exits to Seaworld, at a high school in the High Desert or a neighborhood park in Temecula (there the ground is mercifully soft, sod applied over soil, not dirt on top of concrete landfill). Nothing is expected and nothing is given except competition and hopefully friendship.At its core this work is a celebration of the Amateur and the Queer – those who apply themselves to their passions and communities without concern for reward. Without them we would not have the things that make life worth living, the people who love and support us regardless of who we are, and the spaces that have been fought and paid for with the lives of those that have come before us. Because when we finally learn to separate ourselves from archaic forms of valuation and identification, that is when we are truly free to be exactly who and what we want – like, for instance, a Gay Rugby Team.ARTIST BIONathan Bolton is a photographer from Boston, MA. Collectively the band has performed with many renowned artists including Mulgrew Miller, Eddie Henderson, and Branford Marsalis.James Argiro leader Springfield native, has worked as an arranger, producer, and composer for Frank Sinatra Jr., Barbara Streisand to name a few. Mario DeCiutiis vibes, was principal percussionist for the Radio City Music Hall orchestra. He is also president and CEO of Alternate Mode a manufacturer of Kat Midi percussion controllers. Rich Goldstein is an in demand guitarist and educator currently teaching Hartfords Hartt School of Music and has performed in clubs and festivals with many jazz greats. Jason Schwartz bass, graduated from Westfield State and received an MM from Hartt School of music. He has played with many jazz musicians in the region and taught at Westfield State University.Tido Holtcamp is a versatile drummer and currently plays with several regional groups.&nbsp;This event is funded in part by the Easthampton Cultural Council.

<h3>ArtWalk and Artist Reception: Saturday May 4, 5-8pm</h3>Artist: Rebecca Zablocki“Dear Chronic Illness” is an exhibition of handmade rugs, found objects, and writing.Bio:Rebecca Zablocki is a chronically ill, interdisciplinary artist based in New England. She creates mixed media, installation-based work about her life as a chronically ill person and caregiver to her disabled partner. She relies on humor and softness to share the messages of her work, currently, predominantly through rug making.Artist Statement:Within my work, I utilize craft-based techniques, such as rug making and sewing to create objects indicative of domestic spaces, as well as found objects commonly present within medical spaces and chronically ill lives. I use pattern and color to mirror memories of pediatric medical spaces and the monotony of being confined within a bedroom, simultaneously creating a bridge between the perseverance it requires to create a comfortable, healthy environment and body, and the discovery of beauty, joy, and humor in the spaces around us. My process is a personal tool for coping, and my finished work becomes a tool for the viewer. My studio is an extension of my chronically ill life. I create in my home, often while sitting in a place of rest; my bed, couch, floor cushion, or mat. This process must be regenerative, I have no other option. Through my work, I open a window into the world of chronic illness and provide a safe environment that encourages empathy, awareness, and understanding, exploring how we comfort ourselves and one another with beauty and care, and by being a silly goose.

Bookends, the self proclaimed “last Lesbian bookstore in Western Mass,” is hosting a benefit concert on Sunday April 21st in the Blue Room at CitySpace. Proceeds are going to wage recovery for the Smith SJP sit in and direct relief in Gaza. Wanda Houston is a vocal powerhouse, she started her career touring in musical theatre shows before heading to Broadway to perform in plays such as “A Streetcar Named Desire” with John C. Reilly and Natasha Richardson. Since moving to the Berkshires Wanda and her bands have performed at the Bushnell, Infinity Hall and the Mahaiwe Performing Arts Center. <h1>Lauren Leja – STORYWEAR</h1>April 6, 2024 - April 30, 2024 <h3>ArtWalk and Artist Reception: Thursday April 11, 5-8pm</h3>Artist Statement:For this series, I transcribed both my own short stories (often inspired by vernacular snapshots) and anonymous diary entries onto vintage baby clothes; many garments are illustrated with stitched on photographs. The STORYWEAR concept then expanded to include domestic objects – pillows, dolls and luggage – as I explored the more sculptural materials in my collection.
