Friend - Philly goblin punk 36? is an award-winning internationally touring art-rock band originally out of Calgary, AB. Their new record Naturally (coming out on Montana record label, North Pole Records) was recorded at the beginning of the pandemic. For Taylor Cochrane, (songwriter and frontman for 36?) the recordings came as a much needed release of all the pent up energy that the band had accumulated after 8 months on the road. The overarching theme to Naturally encapsulates Cochranes frustration with the expectation of an artist to present themselves as the perfect package, and how that expectation seeps into and clouds their self-expression. 36? was living in a van on the road somewhere in North America until the pandemic struck in 2020. Squiggler is an indie rock project by Chris Fortunato, a South Philly musician and dog-owner. Squiggler's first EP, Haunted, released in 2022, combines a rock-n-roll rhythm section, acoustic instruments like banjo and violin, and stacked vocal harmonies. The name of the project was inspired by Chris's dog, Islay, who squiggles all around the sidewalk following scents during walks.Divvine blends lovesick songwriting, rowdy beats, and "Laurel Canyon vocal harmonies". In between Chuck Fletcher and the end times you'll find Magic Deal a "bluesy rock" trio from Philly who mix a healthy dose of distortion and reverb with a penchant for lyrical ennui.

Bats is a musical vehicle for the songwriting of Nashville-based writer, musician, and recording artist, Jess Awh. Back in 2020, Jess teamed up with Citrus City Records to release her debut album, There’s a river up high, a collection of lyrically-driven alt-country, which showed Jess’ ability to fuse traditional Americana with a more modern indie-driven sound.Philly based Julia Leiby fronts her new project Julian an indie pop with guitarist Brendan Principato, drummer Abbie Jones, and bassist Drew Sher. Their latest EP, Yearning Songs, features sharply crafted riffs and dreamy lyrics. Leiby is a master at drawing you into her world and then leaving you there alone, but in a good way. Highnoon features the infectious lyrics and soulful singing of Kennedy Freeman. Together wit Rachel Wild, Justin Roth and Brendan Simpson, Kennedy fills their tracks with wonder and longing. A true gem of the Philly music scene.

The Curls funky singles and singular music videos gained them fans throughout the U.S. and catapulted them to the stage at Pitchfork Music Festival in 2018, but their sound has expanded since their 2019 LP Bounce House, becoming more limber and jammy. Their goofy spirit has grown complicated, insular; their playfulness has gained a political and artistically fruitful angst. This newest LP is a concept album, an LSD-soaked shrug to a world overridden with capitalist corruption and violence. They have found a way to translate COVID-era social displacement into a joyful, communal sound. Album centerpiece “Chickens” turns a stoned-out breakdown – key lyric “I can’t believe / I can’t even read” – into a technicolor epic, a la King Crimson soundtracking a Rugrats episode. Their world is ours: iPhone screen-headaches, overly potent weed gummies, weird Joe Biden clips. But their musical palette is ambitious, fun, groovy. The combination of these elements provides something major, potentially essential, to the millennial spirit. -Matthew Danger Lippman   I don't know exactly how to describe the art-pop nightmare conjured up in this...weird grateful dead squiggles meet post-punk fatalism? Dril fronting Devo? I don't exactly know what it is, but I know I like it. (Muncher Madness) -Jason P. Woodbury, Aquarium DrunkardNull drops their dreamy lyrics into a sonic soup of tipsy drumming, electro pop and shoegazey guitar riffs. Making waves on the Philly Music scene, Null is a good bet to break out. Amazing. Power Over Ethernet knows a lot about running high voltage over tiny little copper wires. This Philly group likes to hotwire their gritty, distorted subconscious into their twangy lounge-lizard brain. You MUST have a Zombie cocktail while you're listening to POE so that you can fully experience the effects of their music.

Justmadnice is a haunting and transcendent audio project from indie folk muse Alex Farr. Originally a solo project, their debut EP, Small, was released in 2021 followed by a music video for their song “Lost,” a handful of live recording sessions, and their single “Resolution” released in 2022.Not quite rock, more of a pebble. Pillow Princess is the newest offering from Philly music-scene stalwart, and Secret Nudist Friends front-person, Mattie Kimberly Klauser (she/they). She is joined by Sam Nobles (he/him), Nikki Moscony (she/they), and Alex Clayton (he/him) to create a unique blend of dreamy psych rock and soulful r&amp;b. The textures are lush and immersive, wrapping you in a musical embrace, and inviting you to lie back and enjoyPuppy Angst is a moody 5-piece from Philadelphia started by Alyssa Milman (guitar, vocals). Alyssa’s songwriting combines raw, diary-like lyricism colored by the biting introspection of adulthood with shoegaze and dream pop influences, resulting in tracks that tell a noisy and unapologetic coming-of-age story. Dan Leinweber (guitar, vocals), John Heywood (bass), and Eric Naroden (drums) round out the rest of the band. As of February 2022, Pauli Mia has joined as a performing member on synth and backing vocals.   On October 24th, 2022, Puppy Angst released their debut album Scorpio Season. Their music has been played on WXPN, CD 92.9 FM, KXLU, DKFM Shoegaze Radio, BFF.FM, WKDU, and more. They’ve been covered by WXPN, Queerty, Guitar Girl Magazine, and Magnet Magazine, among other publications.  Alyssa previously toured with fellow Philly pop outfit Kississippi, and their past projects include Past Life and Blushed, in which they were a founding member. Tin Can Bar is partnering with Eclectica Division to host "Punk in Bloom", a benefit showcase full of fun Philly acts. 10% of the evening's proceeds (from both tickets and the bar) will go towards Homies Helping Homies, a community mutual aid initiative focusing on food and household item distribution in South Philadelphia’s Point Breeze neighborhood.
