In order to survive the demands of labor under capitalism, the self becomes divided , alienated, or repressed. This broken character can be difficult to represent convincingly in narrative. Resonance with the popular television show Severance's "Innies" and "Outies" --- has put into spotlight this bifurcated self, but there are many more nuanced ways to address this clefting in prose.
This weekly generative writing course will analyze six books of memoir and fiction and evaluate their syntax, structure, and other innovative methods. Students will be responsible for reading one book a week before class. Time will be given to write together in response to discussion, and the course will culminate in a showcase open to the community.

Cost Pay What You Wish, in order to keep the workshop inclusive, and considering its content, we are asking only that you pay what you can.
