Pete Okie Weiss (yes, his middle name is Okie) hails from Austin, Texas, where he played keys & accordion with local legends Gumbo Ce Soir, The Gritones, and Leo Rondeau. Now based in Oakland, Okie assembled a zydeco rhythm section featuring members of soul band Emily Day & the Knights and honky-tonkers The Country Business. The result is Okie Weiss & the Zydeco Playboys, a new zydeco band that knows how to walk the soul-country line and keep that dance floor packed 'til closing time.
