Born in Poughkeepsie, NY, Dan spent his teenage years attending school, while playing in clubs,touring, and recording local artists by night. During that time Dan established himself as a livemix engineer, working at local venues such as the Bardavon Opera House, Ulster Performing Arts Center, and the Ritz Theater, working with a long list of artists, including Aretha Franklin,John Legend, Diana Ross, Jeff Beck, Santana, Smokey Robinson, Jackson Browne, The Temptations, ZZ Top, Buena Vista Social Club, Kris Kristofferson, Sheryl Crow, Stanley Jordan,Happy Traum, Guy Davis, Emmylou Harris, Liza Minnelli, Graham Parker, John Hiatt, Natalie Merchant, Robert Cray, Joe Bonamassa and countless others.After graduating from high school, Dan relocated to Westchester County to pursue a B.M. in Studio Production and M.M. in Studio Composition at SUNY Purchase College. During college, Dan continued to tour and record while also working for MSNBC on shows such as Way Too Early with Willie Geist, Meet The Press with Chuck Todd, and Hardball with Chris Matthews.Since graduating, Dan has produced, engineered, and performed with a myriad of artists. Dan'smost recent tour dates include Chris Botti, Corey Glover, and Joe Ferry &amp; The Big Ska Band. Among his many endeavors, Dan currently works as a staff producer, session player, and engineer at Hanan Rubinstein's, Daxxit Sound Studios in Fort Lee, NJ.dankottmann.com@dankafiedGRIDLINE :Founded in New York in 2012. Dan Kottmann (guitar, piano, lead vocals) and Andrew Yanchyshyn (bass, vocals) met while attending the Studio Production and Composition programs at SUNY Purchase College. Through a friend, they soon met Robbie Elder (drums,vocals), a Detroit-born vintage drum enthusiast studying at Berklee College of Music in Boston.Together, they formed a band and caught attention through organizing DIY sets around campus.After years of East Coast touring and lineup changes, the group expanded in 2015 to include fellow Purchase alumnus Zach Schepis (guitar, vocals). Former band members include Neal Spitzer (saxophone, 2013-2021) and Dorsey "Sky" Parker (drums, 2015-2019).After almost eleven years, Gridline continues to captivate audiences with their high-octane blend of funk, soul, and rock and roll. Their full-length debut album, Soul Brew, is a snapshot of a live band in motion. The eight original songs and arrangements were developed over years of performing late night sets in some of New York’s most historic clubs. The album features contributions from Corey Glover (Living Colour), Joel Thome (Frank Zappa), and the Scorchio Quartet (David Bowie, Trey Anastasio).
